CES ensures commercial projects in Te Aroha meet the highest safety and council standards. From site investigation and assessment and structural engineering to site design and planning. Bob Tilsley
Principal Engineer
Qualifications/Licences: MNZM, BE Civil, CPEng, MIPENZ
Robert (Bob) Tilsley is a Chartered Professional Engineer with 60 years of experience. He started work at the engineering services department of the Auckland City Council in 1962.
Since that time he has held roles in local government as Assistant County Engineer, Borough Engineer, Chief Executive and an elected member of the Auckland Regional Council. He was an inaugural Board Member of Watercare and has worked in New Zealand and Canada consultancies. He has consulted in the Solomon Islands and New Ireland.
Bob was awarded the MNZM in 2006 for Services to the Community.
Ali Gholamhoseini
Lead Structural Engineer
Qualifications/Licences: BSc, MSc, PhD, FIEAust, CMEngNZ, CPEng(Aus.), CPEng(NZ), IntPE(Aus), IntPE(NZ), APEC Engineer
Industry Awards: Australian Postgraduate Award/Industry (APAI) Scholarship (2010-2014) UNSW, Sydney, Australia
Originally from Iran, Ali completed his BSc in Civil Engineering and MSc in Structural Engineering in 1996 and 1999. He worked in Iran for 10 years before going to Nigeria to work for a German company.
In 2010 Ali moved to Australia to study for his PhD at UNSW. In 2014 he moved to the University of Canterbury for his Post Doc. He has been working on numerous residential, commercial and industrial projects in the Auckland region since 2016. At Tilsley Engineering, Ali enjoys working on a diverse variety of projects on a day-to-day basis.
Susan Tilsley
Director, Senior Engineering Geologist
Qualifications/Licences: BSc, MSc (Hons), MEngNZ
Susan Tilsley is an engineering geologist with 30 years of experience specialising in geotechnical investigations, earthworks slope instability and landslide assessments – primarily for the design of infrastructure projects.
Susan started work with Geotest Ltd, an engineering soils laboratory in 1993, becoming a lab manager and a TELARC signatory in 1995. She continued working with the Beca Group of companies, becoming an associate (shareholder) in 2010. Between 2013 and 2022 she held the role of Technical Director at Beca Ltd. Her focus in later times was on the technical development of engineering geologists and the improvement of their digital tools.
Susan has worked on projects around New Zealand as well as abroad in South-East Asia and the Pacific. In July 2022 Susan started working with Tilsley Engineering Ltd and Tonkin + Taylor Ltd, both on a part-time basis to enable more time to enjoy other aspects of life.
She is also on the NZ Geotechnical Society committee to update the NZ geotechnical soil and rock field guidelines and has been involved in setting up a country-wide GIS-based slope instability depository.
